Biography
Paul Lynch is a designer and maker of original, contemporary furniture.
He began his career at the University of California, Davis, studying
furniture design. After receiving his degree and following several
apprenticeships, Lynch started his own business, designing and building
studio furniture. In 1998, he enhanced his classical training by
undertaking two years of intensive study with James Krenov at the
College of the Redwoods Fine Furniture Program. And in 2002, prompted
by an interest in alternative materials, he enrolled in a graduate
program for textile arts at the University of California, Davis.
Studying with an eclectic group of textile, graphic, and furniture
artists, Lynch earned his MFA in textile arts in 2005.
Lynch’s work can be found in a number of private and public
collections, including the permanent collection of the University
of California, Davis. The recipient of various awards and grants,
Lynch has lectured on the studio furniture movement, and has collaborated
on the fabrication of public art commissions for public and international
institutions. Lynch maintains a studio in Woodland, California,
where he builds commissioned pieces as well as furniture for gallery
exhibition.
